I recently got tips put on my nails and I had to take them off myself. Now my nails are all chipped or scratched....what can I do to fix them/???Damaged nails...please help...need someone will manicure knowledge...

Natural French Manicure?
All my nails have white ends, like, ivory white. Its not dirt and it can be bitten off, but my nails seem tougher. They always seem to do this once they grow past a certain length. I'm not calcium deficient, i don't think.

Plastic tips are typically used at discount salons. These places are some of the worst places to get your nails done at. A much better method is to sculpt the nails on using nail forms. Much less tacky looking than plastic tips. They use them because they simply don't have the skill required to sculpt nails. The nails come out 'flat' looking and they use this awful milky looking acrylic on them. My advice is to find a high end salon and let them sculpt the nails for you. if you go to a good salon/ hair place they can give you a great french manicure no matter what kind of nails you have! :) it will look great but get it in normal colors or it will look bad because some people get it in like red and a white line and it looks aweful... i looks great with light light pink and a whit line :o)

Fashion crime number one! never ever use stick on flowers and patterns on your nails! they look tacky! well..I normally like really pale pink hues.Like I used this pale pink shade as the base and i top it off with revlon's sweet nothings in pillow talk ( which is glittery and very good 2 use! ) and it looks soooo pretty! very princess and cute. and I also loooove metallics! pink metallics are very cool and can match ur outfit anytime. bright neon nails are very in right now, but i find the neon yellows and neon oranges a tad bit OTT. its alright for my toes but I prefer girly shades for my nails. :):) hope that helps, and may girly girls unite! xoxoCute Manicure and Pedicure ideas???

French Manicure Help?!?
I'd like to give myself a french manicure but I am not stead enough to make the tips evenly white. In the past, I've bought those sticky strips to adhear to my nails, but they really don't work. When I peel the strips off, it takes some of the white polish with it and the seam is uneven in thickness.
Is there a product/kit I can buy that will help me give myself a flawless french manicure?

the light pink line adds just a touch of color, but doesn't look trashy....very classic.

Well, go to your local store, and ask for some finger nail polish remover. It feels really weird having to describe it, but I forgot your a man so. You basically poor the polish on a cotton ball, or tissue, and wipe of you fingers with it.

Just do something that you know will tick her off! Throw what she did to you in her face! It'll be hilarous!

Cause of course they will start to chip the next day, yes and no bitting, no dish washing alot. And like the girl above said if they get dull, just put a top coat on, to get them to shine again.

one way to get jewels off your nails is to take a little bowl of container and fill it with strong fingernail polish remover or acetone and soak the finger with the jewel on it in the remover and let it sit for a minute or so...this will help eat away the glue holding the jewel on the nail...i hope this will help you...
grab your eyebrow tweezer and poke at the sides of the rhinestone, then try to shuffle the tweezer underneath the rhinestone and pick it off.
also , try to get under the rhinestone with a toothpick or a needle and pop it off.

Not necessarily. If you plan on getting false nails then your natural nails don't have to be long, but if you do use your own nails and they're really short then you might not be able to get a manicure. Even though this may be a factor, manicurist try to find ways to make it work and even if you can't get the manicure you can always get your nails polished with a little design.

I am looking for a good manicure set. It must include a buffer. Doess anyone have a set they are happy with that they would recomend? (If you can include a website where I can order it, that would be great.)

My little girl's hands are peeling a little..she's got those cuticles growing into half her nail and dead skin too.
How do I take care of her hands?

You can rub her fingers with olive oil. It's natural and healthy, and good for the skin! Really rub it into the cuticles which tend to tear quite a bit when kids are small. You can try using a home made brown sugar scrub. Basically you mix brown sugar and white sugar with some oil. Rub it on the dry skin to help exfoliate then rinse all of the sugar off and massage in the oils. If she does happen to eat any of it, it's just food. One 'recipe' I found suggests 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of olive or coconut oil.
Lansinoh breast cream is good for dry, cracked skin and is safe for babies to ingest when applied to the breast, so I would suggest using that on her hands.

Are manicures a bad idea this time of year?
With more viruses, flus, swine flu, and colds floating around schools, the workplace, etc. I want to get a manicure but I'm worried that nails harbor a lot of germs under them and will it make me more likely to get sick with nails. When I wash my hands do some germs and dirt stay under the nails?
I had manicures during the summer but am not sure if I should right now and through the winter season. Am I worrying too much? Opinions?Are manicures a bad idea this time of year?

french manicure is a classic look.. it will stay ';in'; no matter what..it's nice and neat (even though not very easy to do)...
if you want an updated version try this..
1) instead of white and beige, use black in place of the beige and use beige in place of the white
2) do a normal french mani, then use a sparkly top coat to make the french mani glitzy
3) make your own french mani color combination! it's almost summer anyway! soo. just experiment with bright colors!Is french manicure still hot? I like it %26amp;it looks nice on me?

Natural french manicure?
All my nails have white ends, like, ivory white. Its not dirt and it can be bitten off, but my nails seem tougher. They always seem to do this once they grow past a certain length. I'm not calcium deficient, i don't think.

practice on something like a coloring book with your left hand and try to stay inside the lines when you feel confident try painting your nails!

Can anyone recommend a brand of French Manicure kits (the ones that come with the white, pink/peach and top coat). I have tried Kiss and they are good and Sally Hansen's polish are a bit too thin.

But I've heard quite bad things about infections and poor hygiene in salons that give manicures and pedicures. So I would pay a bit more and rather get a facial in a clinical place, so I wouldn't have to worry about being contaminated.
I would say facial.. just cause keeping your skin all nice looking on your face matters a lot more than going to get your nails done.. you can just do that yourself and they'd look fine.. but your face..leave it to the professionals.. dontcha think?

On your index and ring finger on each hand have your tech swipe a few silver stripes (like feathers) and add a clear rhinestone at the point where she started at close to the tip. I just did my daughters like this and also did her toes the same but did the feather stripes on her big toes only and added 2 rhinestones. She can't stop looking at them and she can't wait to show her friends. Have a great time and Be safe at prom!

they work okay. You can buy the little stickers and you stick them below th part that is white and it makes a nice even line.

dont bother using the strips, i get a better line donig it freehand

oh yay! i was thinking about doing my nails today! i do my own nails, but it takes a bit of practice before they start looking good. hahah. you'll need some guidance, but it's wayy cheaper than the ones you get done at the salon. but the salon ones last A LOT longer. their acrylic/gel are much more professional and have better quality. the manicure kits are good, but you'd want to also buy the artificial nail cutter as well, so the cut will look more professional. i hope i helped =]

Fashion crime number one! never ever use stick on flowers and patterns on your nails! they look tacky! well..I normally like really pale pink hues.Like I used this pale pink shade as the base and i top it off with revlon's sweet nothings in pillow talk ( which is glittery and very good 2 use! ) and it looks soooo pretty! very princess and cute. and I also loooove metallics! pink metallics are very cool and can match ur outfit anytime. bright neon nails are very in right now, but i find the neon yellows and neon oranges a tad bit OTT. its alright for my toes but I prefer girly shades for my nails. :):) hope that helps, and may girly girls unite! xoxoCute Manicure and Pedicure ideas???

French Manicure Help?!?
I'd like to give myself a french manicure but I am not stead enough to make the tips evenly white. In the past, I've bought those sticky strips to adhear to my nails, but they really don't work. When I peel the strips off, it takes some of the white polish with it and the seam is uneven in thickness.
Is there a product/kit I can buy that will help me give myself a flawless french manicure?
Any reccomendations for the white poilsh...brand wise?

Buy a cheap set of small paintbrushes from WalMart from their craft section and cut off the majority of the bristles leaving just a tiny bit left. My clients used to joke that I painted things using a brush with 3 hairs, and they werent far off. I also used plain old craft paints from WalMart and slightly watered them down so the paint would flow. They dry really quickly and you wont lose your design if you put a layer of clear top coat over it. Manicure/pedicure ettiquette?
I've only had two pedicures in my life, and each time I've felt completely out of place. If you're a pro and this, can you give me some pointers? I bring cash to tip everyone, but if you've just had your fingernails done, how in the world do you not mess them up? And how do you leave the salon with shoes on (Even sandals) without goofing up your toes? I'm at a total loss ladies, help me out. Give me your best tips and pointers....everything a rookie needs to know.

Okay so before you get your nails done, leave the money on the table beside you and when your finished just tell the lady that the money is on the table and you dont want to mess up your nails by picking it up. usually after pedicures the woman will but your shoes back on for youso you don't mess them up. just ask her, she will. then just walk out, the polish wont smear.Manicure/pedicure ettiquette?
When i get manicures and pedicures i aske to pay befor i get it done that way i won't mess it up. For toes I wear those shoes with a band that opens with the velcro and open the velcro carefully and then i velcro it.
I get them all the time. My nail person has me pay before they do the polish. Also, he/she should put your sandals on for you. I just wait until things seem pretty dry, and then I put on InstaDry, by OPI, on myself, which I bring to the salon. That takes care of it, but I'm careful to not bump into anything. If I do, Orly has a smudge fixer polish, and I use that.
Generally you pay for the service and tip before you get the polish applied, just let the tech know that you will need a total before he or she polishes so you won't mess the job up. As far as shoes or sandals....bring sandals, like flip flops along, but the salon should not expect you to leave before you are dry enough to remove the spacers and get you shoes on with our goofing your toes up...same goes with you fingers. Usually you can just move to another seat and sit and read a magazine for 15 minutes, that usually will be enough time to get the polish dry enough, but be care for a few hours as it takes that long before it hardens.

I managed to stop biting my nails. But my nails still look rough? I keep getting skins pealing around my nails and some of them bleed and are quite painful! Why do i get these if i don bite or pick on them anymore?Manicure question?
Try taking supplements which aid the skin ask your local health shop which ones, use handcreams or vaseline, try not to bite/peel the broken skin. wear gloves outside in cold weather, hands get chapped like lips do.Manicure question?

Push the cuticles back before cutting but be careful %26amp; don't cut into the skin because it's easy to get infected there. Massage the fingers or feet always towards the heart. Make sure hands and/or feet are completely clean %26amp; dry before applying polish %26amp; always add a top coat. I used to be a cosmetologist. A couple of years ago I got a kit by Jill Jordan for Christmas %26amp; fell in love with it. They should have a website but I don't know what it is. I think it runs about $25. But worth every penny. (very few things I feel that way about. I'm cheap). It smooths ridges %26amp; waves %26amp; gives the nails such a shiny natural gloss you don't need polish. The shine lasts for days despite dishwashing, etc. It comes with complete instructions %26amp; is easy %26amp; doesn't take any time at all. Btw a blow dryer is great for in between coats %26amp; I've also found if you paint the hand you use most first it's less likely to smudge before drying. I don't know why. It just does.
